Purpose:
The venue has many aging electrical units throughout the complex as well as an electrical switchboard that is outdated and does not allow efficient monitoring. We plan to use the funds to:
Upgrade the switchboard to make it more effective by allowing us to manage power usage more efficiently. This will enable us to provide power to various areas in the complex as needed rather than a whole of complex approach. For example we can direct lighting to areas being used only in daytime or only on racing days. For example, at the moment turning the lights on in the committee room for our monthly meetings also turns the lights on in the TAB room even though it is not in use. Upgrading the switchboard will also enable an emergency power stop.
We have several hot water services which are old and inefficient. The grant funds will enable us to replace one of them, being the one most used, with a new energy efficient model.
Replacement of lighting fixtures to LED energy efficient models throughout. This is a complex task as many of our buildings are high roofed and may require more than just a ladder to facilitate replacement.
We will use a single local electrical contractor to undertake the work and his quote includes labour and materials.
