Purpose:
Urbanisation, drought, bushfires and an ever expanding urban footprint has allowed Gold Coast and Scenic Rim edge koala populations to be under intense pressure. Koala habitat is scarce, hence why creating and maintaining suitable koala corridors and highways is more important than ever. Weed management works on 10 private properties and reservers (200 hectares), creating an community Eucalyptus ID resource, Wildlife carers fodder farm maintenance and Scat analysis will be conducted to: improve Koala habitat, provide environmental restoration, increase knowledge on population and health, improve community engagement and knowledge, and promote protection and recovery to better conserve Koalas and their habitat.
