Grant Program:
Investigator
Grant Activity:
Understanding signalling in the brain in neurons and at the blood-brain barrier in the context of Alzheimer’s disease pathology and its treatment
Purpose:
Targeting the brain for therapeutic intervention requires an understanding of its complex biology and pathology, a frontier we are yet to surpass. This project focuses on deciphering the organization and interaction of key molecules in two structures, the blood-brain barrier and the synapse. The former can be overcome with ultrasound treatment, allowing therapeutics to enter the brain; the latter contains key molecules that have a role in memory functions and in Alzheimer's disease.
