Grant Activity:
Solar Power for Marine Rescue Merimbula
Purpose:
Project Name: Solar Power for Marine Rescue Merimbula Project Aim: To arrange supply and fitting of an appropriate capacity solar panel installation for Marine Rescue Merimbula. Method: This is a simple project with low levels of risk using a quote and acceptance of quote contracting arrangement. Lakeside Electrical Licence Number EC36838 has been selected as the preferred supplier. This company was selected as it is locally based with a well established reputation. A locally based company will be more responsive in the event of any requirement for defect rectification or follow up maintenance or to meet the obligations of their 10 year warranty for system installation. Lakeside Electrical has conducted a site visit prior to preparation of their quote. Their quoted Option 2 is preferred following further discussions as it is oversized to avoid the requirement for tilted panels. This will avoid the potential problem of the tilted panels interfering with the radio antennae farm also located on the roof. Furthermore, there is little price differential once the additional costs of the Tilt Tripods (12 x $55 = $660) are added to Option 1 Approval for the proposed installation has been received from the building owner, Merimbula Big Game & Lakes Angling Club. Bega Valley Shire Council clearance for the installation has also been obtained. The project is shovel ready subject to funding becoming available. Project Risks This a simple acceptance of quote contractual project with a fixed price which minimises budget risk. Schedule risk is driven by the fact that project start is dependent on a successful grant application. Once approval is received and the order placed the start date for installation will depend on the suppliers order load and the availability of materials. The most likely schedule scenario is that grant notification and grant agreement processing will occur in December 2021 with an order placed with the supplier before Christmas.
