A comprehensive, national assessment of fire-affected Mainland Ground Parrots and Eastern Bristlebirds across their known ranges. This project will bring together experts and stakeholders from VIC, NSW and QLD to identify critical gaps in bushfire recovery efforts for these birds, to guide national action over the immediate and longer terms. These cryptic birds are difficult to survey and monitor. This project will deliver a national assessment of bushfire impacts, a national approach to monitoring and prioritise actions to support the post-fire recovery of these birds and prevent their extinction. Where relevant, this project will draw on lessons learnt in conserving Western Ground Parrot and other cryptic bird taxa.
