Grant Activity:
Young Tassie Scientists: Sharing Local Science in Our Island Community
Purpose:
The Young Tassie Scientists (YTS) are a group of 20–25 early–career researchers who volunteer their time to share their passion for science with audiences across Tasmania. These widely–profiled Science Week ambassadors focus public awareness on local Tasmanian science research and highlight local career opportunities through highly engaging interactive presentations and hands–on activities which cover a wide range of science topics. The YTS are involved in regional science festivals, as well as school science fairs and various Science Week events throughout August. The YTS travel around Tasmania for these purposes, providing in–school visits along the way, with a focus on reaching regional, rural and island communities state–wide.
