2020_MRFF_EPCDR_Improving_Diagnosis_in_Cancers_Low_Survival_Rates
Grant Activity:
Shining Light into the "unknown" on Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians with Cancer of Unknown Primary
Purpose:
Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) diagnosis is made after an exhaustive set of tests fail to identify a primary site of origin, but not everyone undergoes a uniform set of tests. In addition, CUP incidence/mortality disparity exists between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. This project aims to implement a uniform diagnostic pathway, accurately identify the primary site using a novel tissue of origin test and improve treatment options through genomic profiling for all Australians.
