Grant Activity:
Phosphoinositide signalling in disease
Purpose:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Current treatment protocols are initially effective; however, more than half of patients experience relapse presenting an urgent need for new therapies. Lipid signals within cells can be hyperactivated in breast cancer promoting tumour growth and spread. We have discovered genes that regulate these signals, that when altered lead to poor outcomes in breast cancer. Here we will investigate these events to identify new biomarkers and therapies.
