Grant Activity:
Statins and Progression of Coronary Atherosclerosis in Melanoma Patients Treated with Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors
Purpose:
Checkpoint inhibitors are used in an increasing number of melanoma patients. Recent data has suggested that checkpoint inhibitor use may associate with both a greater risk of heart attack and stroke, which may relate to greater growth of plaques in blood vessels. In this clinical trial we will compare the effects of statins (drugs commonly used to lower cholesterol) and placebo on plaque growth in melanoma patients treated with checkpoint inhibitors.
