RHMT Program
Description:

This forecast opportunity is to advise universities participating in the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program of an upcoming grant opportunity “Extension of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program”.

The RHMT program, including its precursors, is a long-standing program operating for over 20 years. The RHMT program supports health students to undertake rural training through a network of rural clinical schools (RCSs), university departments of rural health (UDRHs), dental faculties offering extended rural placements, and the Northern Territory Medical program. The program also supports regional training hubs tasked with building medical training pathways within a region and guiding students and trainees through these. The aim of the RHMT program is to improve the recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural and remote Australia. There are 21 universities currently participating in the program across Australia.

This grant opportunity is a closed non-competitive grant opportunity to extend the RHMT program for calendar years 2022–2024. Only current university participants in the RHMT program will be eligible to apply to enable their currently funded activities to continue. Application requirements are still being finalised and will be published once the grant opportunity is formally advertised on GrantConnect.
