Description:

The Centenary of Anzac Centre Program (the Program) will run over four years from 2016-17 to 2019-20. The Program was announced as part of the Coalition's Policy to Support Veterans and Their Families to improve mental health outcomes for former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members.

The Program will involve the establishment and operation of the Centenary of Anzac Centre comprising:

  • a Practitioner Support Service
  • a Treatment Research Centre.

The Centenary of Anzac Centre will contribute to:

  • Rebuilding lives - better mental health, reduced disability and increased productivity for veterans and their families.
  • Reducing suffering - reduced impacts of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related conditions, and improved quality of life, for veterans and their families.
  • Saving lives - reduced burden of PTSD and other conditions on veterans and their families to lower the risk of suicide and other risk-taking behaviour.
  • Reducing costs - improved effectiveness of mental health treatments to assist in reducing the high costs of healthcare, compensation and lost productivity.
  • Increasing knowledge - addressing current gaps in the literature regarding the mechanisms underlying recovery and improved effectiveness of evidence-based treatments for PTSD and related conditions to benefit service systems, mental health providers and sufferers internationally.
Eligibility:

As this grant is the result of an election commitment, the only eligible applicant is the the Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health Inc. (trading as Phoenix Australia-Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health. 

To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • be an entity incorporated in Australia
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
Total Amount Available (AUD):

$6,000,000.00
