The NHMRC National Institute for Dementia Research (NNIDR) is part of the Boosting Dementia Research Initiative and will target, co-ordinate and translate the Australian research effort in dementia.
NHMRC has allocated funding to support partnerships of multidisciplinary, national teams to strengthen Australia’s national dementia data assets and capabilities to deliver high quality information and analytic methods for dementia research under the Boosting Dementia Research Grants Scheme: Priority Round 6.
The supported research will:
- provide new capacity for reliable estimates of dementia incidence and prevalence, by different types of dementia
- support research toward the development of new prevention, treatment and care measures by Australian researchers, including with international collaborators, and
- contribute to planning services, monitoring trends, and identifying new markets and areas of need by governments, industry and providers.
Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions. A list of NHMRC approved Administering Institutions is available at:

Applications must satisfy all the requirements set out in the 2018 NHMRC Funding Rules and the additional requirements set out in the 2018 Boosting Dementia Research Grants scheme-specific Funding Rules and Priority Round 6 Round Details.

$3,000,000.00
Applications must be submitted electronically using NHMRC’s online Research Grants Management System (RGMS) unless otherwise advised by NHMRC.
