Description:

The purpose of the grant opportunity is to improve the wellbeing of people with lung conditions by increasing the availability of evidence-based information and to improve awareness and understanding in the community about lung conditions and their early symptoms.
The grant strongly aligns with the priorities and recommendations outlined in the National Strategic Action Plan for Lung Conditions (the Action Plan), launched by the Australian Government on
21 February 2019.

The overall objective of the grant opportunity is to support the recommended activities from the Action Plan. This includes:
• delivering a comprehensive national public health program to address stigma, discrimination and social isolation associated with lung conditions;
• delivering a community awareness and education campaign to increase knowledge of the symptoms of lung conditions, and encourage early presentation to appropriately skilled health professionals; and
• further develop current and/or new tools and support services (i.e. the Helpline) for people with lung conditions to support effective self-management practices.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:
• increase public awareness of the different types of lung conditions and the early signs/symptoms for each condition;
• increase the number of people presenting to medical professionals with early symptoms of a lung condition; and
• increase the number of people utilising tools and support services which assist them to self-manage their condition.
