The Regional Growth Fund is a $272.2 million investment program to provide grants of $10 million or more for major transformational projects, which support long term economic growth and create jobs in regional and remote areas. Projects must be for common-use infrastructure or private use infrastructure that will deliver significant and sustainable benefits to the region by creating jobs and flow-on benefits to the economy. Projects will be assessed in two stages. The first stage will consist of an Initial Application to allow eligible applicants to submit projects for consideration without committing significant resources to developing a Full Business Case. Initial Applications will be assessed for eligibility and against the following merit criteria: 1. create jobs 2. drive economic growth 3. build stronger regional communities Following the Initial Application process, successful applicants will be asked to submit a Full Business Case (stage two) allowing for a value with relevant money assessment. |
Eligible Projects must have a minimum total project cost of at least $20 million (GST exclusive), with proponents or other contributors required to contribute at least 50 per cent cash funding to the project.
To be eligible, projects will be capital projects involving the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or an extension of existing infrastructure. Projects for the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure will be eligible so long as they provide a demonstrated significant increase in benefit.
Projects will not be funded where construction has begun or where construction contracts are in place at the time of the Full Business Case.

5.00 pm AEST 27 April 2018 – Initial Applications close
Successful applicants to the Initial Application, will be have three months from the date of notification to submit a Full Business Case.
Program funding will commence in the 2018-19 financial year and cease on 30 June 2022.
