Pharmacy Trial Program (PTP) Tranche 2 - Program Guidelines
These guidelines contain information for the administration of grants provided under the Australian Government’s Pharmacy Trial Program Tranche 2 (PTP Tranche 2).
The Pharmacy Trial Program (PTP) sits under the Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement (6CPA) and aims to extend the funded roles of pharmacists in the delivery of primary health care services and will trial new and expanded community pharmacy programs which seek to improve clinical outcomes for consumers. The government has opted for a staged approach to the development and delivery of trials under the PTP to allow processes to be developed with stakeholder input and alleviate administrative burden on the sector.
The Department is seeking to fund organisations under PTP Tranche 2 to run innovative trials in community pharmacies or with community pharmacists that deliver the aims of the PTP outlined above. The successful organisations will need to work with community pharmacies and pharmacists to run trials and to collaborate to ensure research and data are adequately captured to inform the evaluation process. Successful organisations will need relevant expertise in research and data capture and reporting as well as demonstrated experience in managing trials of a pharmacy and/or health service delivery nature
Once finalised, the outcomes of the trials will be evaluated by an independent health technology assessment committee to inform decisions about any broader roll-out.
Department of Health is not seeking applications from organisations who were not successful in Stage 1 of the Pharmacy Trial Program Tranche 2.
