QLD Blue Light Blue EDGE Program
Purpose:
Qld Blue Light will use the grant to further develop and deliver our Blue EDGE program targeting at risk Qld youth aged 12 – 17 years. Blue EDGE (Educate, Develop, Grow, Empower) uses physical training as a tool to help young people develop discipline, learn goal setting skills and grow through their personal achievements. Participants meet twice per week for eight weeks, and finish with a full day program called Final EDGE to celebrate their achievements. While physical training, good personal hygiene and nutrition are the common basis of all programs, life skills lessons are customised to meet the specific needs of youth from each area. Participants are mentored by Police and other role models from within their local communities.
