Grant Activity:
The Long-term Outcomes of Lidocaine Infusions for persistent PostOperative Pain in patients undergoing breast surgery (LOLIPOP) Trial
Purpose:
Long lasting pain is common after breast cancer surgery. It is a common side effect of successful treatment, and is very difficult to treat. No intervention has been shown to prevent its occurrence. The LOLIPOP trial is a personalised medicine trial. It is a large study examining whether a local anaesthetic drug, lidocaine, given intravenously during and after surgery, will alter the risk of developing long-term pain in the wound of patients who undergo breast cancer surgery.
