Grant Program:
2019_MRFF_RCRDUN_Neurological_Disorders_2020
Grant Activity:
Does repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), compared to sham rTMS, improve social communication in adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)?
Purpose:
This is a multisite clinical trial to assess whether a form of non-invasive brain stimulation, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), can safely improve social symptoms in adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). rTMS has been established as a safe and effective treatment for a range of brain-based conditions, including depression, migraine, and obsessive compulsive disorder, and there is evidence to suggest it could be effective in ASD.
