Grant Activity:
SCORE: Shared care of Colorectal cancer survivors – A randomised controlled trial of hospital-based follow up versus shared hospital / general practice follow up for survivors of colorectal cancer (CRC)
Purpose:
Survivors of colorectal cancer (CRC) can experience distressing problems after treatment. Most people are followed-up by specialists at busy hospital clinics, however this model does not meet the needs of many patients, and is unsustainable due to growing patient numbers. A shared-care model of follow up with specialists and general practitioners may be as effective, cheaper and preferred by patients. The proposed study is the first internationally to rigorously evaluate shared-care for survivors of CRC.
