To provide funding for investment in telecommunications infrastructure to improve mobile voice and data coverage across Australia.
Purpose:
The Government has committed $380 million to the Mobile Black Spot Program to invest in telecommunications infrastructure to improve mobile coverage across Australia including along major regional transport routes and in small communities.
As part of the commitment, funding was allocated to Round 4 to impove mobile coverage in regional and remote Australia including targeting public interest premises.
This grant funding to Optus has been awarded through a competitive process to deliver 49 base stations.
