Purpose:
The design and construction of a well equipped, local disaster coordination centre to provide essential facilities to Council and the multiple agencies of the local disaster management group to ensure prompt response and deployment of recovery resources to manage the community impacts and losses for future disaster events in the Whitsunday Region, and build resilience in the community to reduce downtime. The second floor of the facility will be utilised for the implementation of the climate change innovation hub. The Hub will leverage the science and data required for the quantification of risks associated with climate change to develop innovative solutions to these risks that are economically, environmental and socially feasible.
