Grant Activity:
Intraoperative immunotherapy to prevent relapse in soft tissue sarcoma
Purpose:
Soft tissue sarcomas are cancers derived from muscle, fat or connective tissues and characterised by aggressive local growth. Even after extensive treatment, relapses frequently occur, particularly at the site of the original tumour. The Investigator aims to develop a degradable biomaterial containing an immune-stimulating drug that can be applied to the site during surgery. Following surgery, the material will release the drug, attracting and activating immune cells to identify and eradicate and remaining cancer cells.
