Purpose:

 

The objectives of the UN Youth Representative Program are:

 

·         To consult with and empower young Australians to discover and explore the issues most important to them.

 

·         To further Australia’s relationships and recognition of its expertise through the Youth Representative’s work with foreign delegates in particular; and

 

·        To contribute an informed youth perspective to areas of policy prioritised by DFAT and increase the activity of young Australians on the international stage.

 

In addition the UN Youth Representative will obtain invaluable exposure to DFAT protocol/practices, opportunities network, and develop key skills for the upcoming 2021 Youth Representative program.

 

During their visit to New York at the Youth Forum, the representative would look to build relationships with other young leaders and promote the mission and values of UN Youth and DFAT on an international stage.
