Keeping Food Cool at Bendigo Foodshare with 14kW PV
Purpose:
Bendigo Foodshare will purchase and install a 14.4kW Solar PV system to generate clean energy to power the large chilled and cold storage areas in our warehouse. These areas store fresh, chilled and frozen food that we rescue from producers and retailers and distribute to around 14,000 people a month through 60 schools and 40 community organisations. Without this food, more people in Central Victoria go hungry. Our volunteers have to raise $100,000 pa to lease and run our warehouse and to run our vans. By using solar power, we will reduce the impact on our environment and reduce our charities' power costs by around $3000 pa. This will allow our volunteers to support more food rescue and distribution.
