Purpose:

 

The AIMEP is a flagship program of the Australia-Indonesia Institute (“AII”). The program’s objectives are to broaden awareness and understanding of Australian and Indonesian culture, values, and traditions through direct people-to-people contacts; to enhance understanding of mainstream Islam in Indonesia and of Australia’s multicultural society by establishing and nurturing contact between emerging leaders of Muslim communities in both countries; and to promote mutual understanding, cooperation, tolerance and respect between the Muslim communities as well as the broader populations of Indonesia and Australia.
