Cherbourg Safe Communities Project
Purpose:
The Cherbourg Safe Communities Project will deliver an employer–led, culturally customised employment program to support vulnerable long term unemployed Aboriginal candidates build their skills and capacity to be ready for work. The project provides an ecosystem of support for candidates in their transition to employment. The initiative will result in 10 employment opportunities for successful participants as Community Safety Officers to work in the Cherbourg Community. This is based on a firm commitment from employer Kingaroy Security. The initiative is consistent with Cherbourg Council's mantra of By Community–For Community. This strategy is designed to retain value, jobs and autonomy within the Community.
