Molecular regulation of human immunity in health and diseases
Purpose:
Inborn errors of immunity are caused by errors in single genes that predispose individuals to severe infection; they can also cause autoimmunity, allergy or malignancy. Analysing these patients has made major contributions to understanding medicine and mechanisms of disease. I will study patients with these conditions to not only discover processes required for the development and function of cells of the human immune system, but also to develop therapies for these and related diseases.
