Grant Activity:
Neighbours restoring Endangered Allocasuarina & heath goanna habitats
Purpose:
This project will engage neighbouring landholders in the protection and conservation of Fleurieu Swamps (Threatened Ecological Community) and the rare heath goanna, on a large privately–owned site in the southern Mount Loft Rangers. The project will restore remnant Allocasuarina robusta habitat in an area of swamp through revegetation and weed management, and reduce pressures on the rare heath goanna through pest animal control. The work will also benefit other rare plants and animals of regional or state conservation significance. On–ground works will be conducted in conjunction with privately–funded WoNS and pest animal control; all under direction of staff from Natural Resources Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges.
