Smart Cities and Suburbs
Grant Activity:
Melrose Park: Smart Planning for Climate Responsive Neighbourhoods
Purpose:
The City of Parramatta Council is partnering with UTS and PAYCE to integrate real–time data capture and analysis at the Melrose Park development. Captured data will establish an environmental baseline prior to the major construction phase, with sensors left in place to track change over time. Project data will be integrated with advanced Geographical Information Systems (GIS), in collaboration with Esri Australia, to provide a scalable new toolset for smart digital planning, fully integrated with emerging smart city frameworks, standards and data models. The project will use smart technology to generate data (on heat, air quality, noise and stormwater), coupled with community participation, to help manage the creation of this new suburb.
