COSTA: Refugee and Migrant Employment Pilot (Tomato Exchange)
Purpose:
The COSTA: Refugee and Migrant Employment Pilot (Tomato Exchange) Project will deliver an employer–led culturally customised employment program to support vulnerable unemployed refugees and migrants living locally to build their skills and capability to be ready for work in the Costa Group. Led by national award–winning social enterprise, Community Corporate in partnership with the Costa Group, Settlement Services International and local jobactive providers. The project encompasses a combination of activities including: intensive screening and selection based on attitude; culturally appropriate resilience at work training sessions, which includes orientation to Australian workplaces and employers and job readiness; on site work experience; induction training; individual employment coaching; and employer mentoring to
support retention over 12 months. These initiatives will collectively increase skills, exposure, access and sustainability of real job outcomes within one of the largest local employers, Costa at the tomato farm in Guyra to increase economic participation and sustainable employment
pathways that respond to local workforce needs.
