Grant Activity:
Investigating the relationship between patterns of alcohol consumption and specific health outcomes
Purpose:
Heavy alcohol use substantially increases the risk for a wide range of diseases. However, controversy exists over whether moderate consumption can protect against certain cardiovascular, cognitive, diabetic and affective conditions. The proposed project seeks to address methodological limitations of previous research in extending our understanding of this relationship by synthesising current evidence, collecting up-to-date data on non-drinkers in Australia, and analysing existing long-term data.
