Smart Urban Irrigation Project
- GA32431-V1 - Extend end date (8-Jul-2020 )
Cairns Regional Council's Smart Urban Irrigation Project will use ground surveillance technology to test soil conditions over various locations. This data will be used to assist in irrigation design and programming. Irrigation systems will then be upgraded to allow for central management with integrated IQ controllers, moisture and flow systems, weather stations and master valves. In certain project locations it will be necessary to also include drainage and ground profiling to provide the best outcomes for the irrigated vegetation. Data from this technology will then provide and incorporate envirotranspiration readings to allow for real time automated irrigation programming. Through this project Council proposes to demonstrate irrigation systems that can operate at their optimal best with sustainable and measureable environmental benefits such as considerable reductions in water consumption.
