Quantitative Genomics of Common Disease
Purpose:
Both genetic and environmental factors increase risk of common disease. We all carry DNA risk variants for each common disease, but people most susceptible carry a higher burden. Identification of, and understanding these DNA risk variants, will lead to new treatments. In the short term, genetic risk prediction may help population stratification useful in public health screening strategies and earlier diagnosis. New methods and approaches are needed to fulfil these goals.
