The purpose of the grant is to assist the owners of land which has been voluntarily nominated and approved under the National Radioactive Waste Management Act 2012 (the Act) with the costs of obtaining professional legal and property valuation advice in relation to the potential acquisition of their land as a site for a National Radioactive Waste Management Facility (Facility). The maximum grant amount is $90,000 ($30,000 per land nominator). The maximum grant period is two years. The intended outcome of the grant is to facilitate negotiations between the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and the owners of land nominated under the Act, in relation to any amount of compensation which may be payable to the land owners upon an acquisition of their land under the Act.
