Purpose:
This project addresses the shortage of public parking in high–demand areas and the impact on congestion and emissions created by drivers searching for parking. Use of smart technologies will improve information to travellers to inform travel mode choice and direct drivers to available spaces. The project will also provide decision makers with a better understanding of parking utilisation and assist in enforcement. Community surveys and shared parking data will be used to identify the existing and potential market for shared parking in Randwick City. An API, "SmartPark"? will be developed to disseminate the real–time data and further analysis will yield trials of dynamic pricing and shared parking policies. Finally these will be evaluated and the outcomes will be published to guide future adoption.
