Purpose:
St Philip's Christian College will send five students to compete in the Subs in Schools Program. It is the world's first in–class submarine design competition. It provides for industry–standard technology to be made made available in the classroom. Students develop a wide range of skills from design, engineering and manufacturing to the soft skills sought after by industry (project management, teamwork, collaboration, problem solving, communication), to which are added the complexities of underwater design, coding and electronics. Both of our Subs in Schools teams are comprised of 70% female members, which provide an excellent example of realistic STEM engagement to other females considering careers in STEM/Engineering.
