Purpose:
The purpose of the Grant is to assist the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre Unincorporated Joint Venture to upgrade the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre (Pawsey) to ensure Australia continues to have a world–class supercomputing facility. The Grant is being provided to implement the High Performance Computing – Pawsey program. The program aims to maintain Pawsey, one of two complementary and interconnected high performance computing (HPC) research facilities in Australia. Pawsey is highly collaborative, with operations delivered through an existing Unincorporated Joint Venture (UJV) consisting of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia. As such, the granting activity is specifically dependent upon the endorsement of the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre Board of Management (Board). The Board has nominated Curtin University as the most appropriate member organisation to receive the grant. The role of Curtin University is to act as an agent for Pawsey in regard to the grant and undertake activities as a UJV member in accordance with the Pawsey Members Agreement 2016. In addition, Pawsey is located directly adjacent to Curtin University, which has fostered a close operating relationship between the two entities.
