Purpose:
This research project aims to:
(a) examine the transfusion threshold in non-haemorrhaging critically ill elderly patients to inform appropriate use and reduce inappropriate use of blood products; and
(b) determine the prevalence of anaemia at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and hospital discharge to help understand, maintain or enhance clinical outcomes for patients.
