Project
Grant Activity:
Brain-wide mapping of sensory perception and integration in a vertebrate model
Purpose:
Patients with psychiatric disorders often perceive sensory events abnormally, and the studies that are possible in humans and rodents have difficulty addressing why. Our project will develop a system in zebrafish for observing activity throughout the brain while we can still see each brain cell individually. This will allow us to see just how the brain encodes visual and auditory information, and how this activity changes when animals have mutations like those in human patients.
