Grant Activity:
Characterisation and treatment of nephropathy in patients with a Fontan circulation
Purpose:

The Fontan procedure is the last in a series of operations offered to children born with a heart with a single pumping chamber. These patients have been shown to be at an increased risk of damage to their kidneys. The aim of this study is to investigate whether a commonly-used medication called an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor can reduce the degree of kidney dysfunction in a group of Fontan patients, and to find the best simple tests to measure the severity of this kidney damage.
