Grant Activity:
19F Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Thrombosis and Vulnerable Atherosclerotic Plaque
Purpose:
Conditions such as heart attack and stroke are major sources of death and disability in the community. The underlying process behind these diseases is the formation of plaques within the vessel wall and blood clot formation. There is a latent period between initial plaque formation and clinical consequences. Importantly, not all patients will progress to clinical disease. This project aims to use MRI for early detection of high risk patients to allow treatment before onset of clinical disease.
